Introducing the Wizard of Ease

Twenty years ago a couple of colleagues dared me to become the “Princess of Ease.”  Why?  Because they recognized in me a workaholic perfectionist who averaged four hours of sleep per night and whose life was filled with struggle.

Ease?!!?!  What the heck were they talking about?

It took years of introspection, yoga, meditation, and reading dozens of self-help books for me to understand why their challenge was so on target. Thus began my experiments with ease–my attempts to learn how to live the Easy Gentle Life.

Now I’m a life coach and motivational speaker and trainer who specializes in helping others cultivate effortlessness in their lives and their careers.  I’m a yoga teacher who supports my students in gentle stretching, relaxation, mindfulness and pursuing a spiritual path.  I’m a business consultant who works with organizations to cultivate high performance without courting burnout.  And I’m a freelance writer and editor who helps clients express their messages with ease and elegance.

The purpose of this blog is to share the tools, ideas, perspectives—and, yes, wisdom—I’ve gained from my adventures with ease in my own life and what I’ve learned from my clients.  It’s called “Wizard of Ease” because I’d rather be a wizard than a princess.

And, besides, the name “Princess of Ease” belongs to someone else.

Blogging also provides a way for me to find ease in publishing a book I’ve been writing for many years.  Instead of waiting for it to be “finished” before putting it into print, this blog will get the information out by sharing it in easy-sized pieces.

Yet my own journey to practice a life of gentleness and ease is far from over. I still search for ways to let go of strain and resistance, and to relax into the flow of life.

That’s where you come in, dear reader.  We are all wizards in our own ways, and have much to share with each other about life and work.  Please join the dialogue by commenting about techniques you’ve found to decrease stress and struggle, and to increase joy, freedom and contentment.

Bring on the ease!
