Workshops

Yoga and the Labyrinth Explore the complementary practices of yoga and walking meditation using a labyrinth. Like practicing yoga, walking the structured paths of a labyrinth offers a way to exercise and relax the body, clear the mind and journey to your spiritual center. The labyrinth has been used as a contemplative and problem-solving practice in diverse cultures over many centuries. This workshop features easy gentle yoga stretches, as well as opportunities to walk an outdoor labyrinth. No prior experience with yoga or labyrinths is necessary.

Yoga of Simplicity (with co-facilitator Beth Tener, RYT)  The yoga of simplicity offers a path to help us slow down and focus on what makes our lives rich, including reconnecting to nature. In this workshop, we explore how ancient yoga teachings can inform our pursuit of a simpler, more fulfilling lifestyle that honors our connection to the earth and all of life. Through gentle yoga postures, meditation and easy outdoor experiences, as well as discussion, individual reflection, and exercises, you will shed some of the complexity of your life and take home practical ideas for change.

Earth Friendly Yoga Although modern Western yoga is most often practiced inside the built environment, the ancient yogis practiced outdoors. In fact, many asanas (yoga postures) are based on observing animals and other aspects of nature–e.g., cobra, lion, pigeon, locust, mountain, tree. Join this workshop and get in touch with the life force (prana) of trees, wind, earth and sky.  Breathe more fully in the clear outdoor air, and enhance your sense perception by observing the sights, smells, sounds and touch of nature.

Meditation in Nature Experience the natural world as a refuge from your busy life and an oasis for renewing your spirit. Through outdoor meditation experiences—both walking and seated—you’ll enjoy the relaxation that comes with silence and focus on the beauty of nature. It’s a chance to restore your equanimity and calmness in the company of a tree or a babbling brook. Whether you’re new to meditation or have practiced for years, you’ll enjoy this opportunity to cultivate mindfulness and wonder, and to experience a sense of unity with the larger world.
